So you have installed Windows on to your Mac, installed your favorite game, but now what you need is to hook up your Dualshock or Xbox controller to your Mac for the ultimate PC gaming experience. However, this is not as easy as it sounds. MacBooks were not built as gaming PCs and therefore connecting third party gaming devices can entail various roadblocks. So, if you’re facing problems connecting your Bluetooth game controller to you MacBook Pro, follow these steps below to get it right.
Start your ‘Bluetooth Game Controller’ and hold down the ‘Bluetooth’ or ‘Share’ button to activate.
Click on the ‘System Preferences’ tab in the ‘Menu Bar’ at the bottom of the screen. You can also access it from the ‘Finder menu bar’ at the top of your screen.
In the ‘System Preferences’ window click on the ‘Bluetooth’ tab.
'Turn oO' Bluetooth
To activate Bluetooth, click on the ‘Turn Bluetooth On’.
A list of all connectible Bluetooth devices will be shown. Find the name of your controller, either Dualshock or Xbox, select it, and click on ‘Connect’.
Now the Bluetooth game controller is connected to your MacBook pro.
In case a window pops up saying driver missing or driver error there is no need to worry. Just head over to github.com and download the necessary driver and install it and run the previous two steps again. Make sure to check whether the driver you are downloading is the correct one for your operating system or not.
If you followed these steps correctly your Bluetooth controller should be connected and working perfectly. Now you can play not only the Xbox or PS4 games on your MacBook Pro using the Bluetooth game controller but also various other PC games. Keep in mind that the latter might requires some configuration of the controller keys on your part.
