How to Disable the Touchpad on a PC

If you find that your touchpad gets in the way of your typing on your laptop, then you can simply disable it on your PC. An external mouse may eliminate your need for a touchpad. If you wish to disable your PC’s touchpad, then you can do so by following the steps listed below.

Step 1: On the icon bar at the bottom of the screen, click on the touchpad icon. Or click Start>Control Panel>Hardware>Sound. Then click Mouse. From there you can disable your touchpad.
Step 2: You will be presented with a pop up menu where you will be able to disable your touchpad.
Step 3: Click disable.

Step 2: Find your “device manager.”
Step 3: Disable your touchpad.
Step 4: Click Confirm.

If you don’t want to completely disable the touchpad, then you can just adjust its sensitivity. You can always re-enable your touchpad if you want to use it again or set it up to automatically disable itself whenever you attach a mouse to be used in its stead.
