How To Screen Mirror With Your Windows 10 Laptop

Windows 10 has brought a number of features to the palms of an end user. That being said, you can project what you’re seeing on the laptop to a display located in the same room without the need to use chords and fat cables. The feature is dubbed screen mirroring and the option is built into Windows 10 provided you meet the hardware requirements to pull the feat off.

1. Make sure that your laptop is equipped with a WiDi capable wireless adapter. If your laptop has wireless capabilities but is devoid of WiDi, you could either look into swapping out the wireless adapter to one with WiDi onboard or you can look into USB driven WiDi devices like the Actiontec ScreenBeam USB Transmitter.

2. You will additionally need a display or external monitor that can receive the output from your WiDi adapter or rather they should be WiDi capable. Samsung have some in their portfolio. You can look into Microsoft’s Wireless Display Adapter if your TV doesn’t support WiDi but has 2 available USB ports. If your monitor needs the wireless adapter, plug it into your TV’s USB ports.

3. Power up your laptop and log in to Windows 10.

4. Tap the Windows key on your laptop.

5. Click on Settings.

6. Click on Devices.

7. Select Connected Devices.

8. Click on Add a Device.

9. A new window will appear/menu will appear and will show you a list of all devices connected to your laptop. Select your WiDi capable display or if you’re using the WiDi adapter on your TV, choose your WiDi receiver.

10. After a short while your laptop will be mirroring to your external display/TV.

That’s all there is to it. You can now go about with presentations and what not from the convenience of your laptop and your comfy chair.
