I Cannot Recover Contents from Abruptly Closed Unsaved MS Visio 2013 Files

When talking about MS Visio 2013, this issue is very common and almost every Visio user experiences it. In fact, this is not an issue but whatever you experience is due to the default configuration of MS Visio 2013 program.

When MS Visio 2013 is installed on a computer, it is not configured to autosave the contents of the files by default. Unlike other MS Office applications where the autosave checkbox is checked by default and the time interval to autosave the document is set to 10 minutes, the autosave checkbox in MS Visio 2013 is by default unchecked.

Because of the default configuration, when you start using MS Visio and draw your designs, the application does not automatically save the changes in the auto recover files. If by any means you forget to save your MS Visio 2013 file, and the application crashes or the file is closed abruptly, all data is lost.

To avoid above situation, it is strongly suggested that you configure your instance of MS Visio 2013 manually so that it can start saving your contents in the auto recovery files.

No administrative rights or in-depth technical knowledge is required to get this job done. However in order to get the things done in proper manner, you are expected to have basic knowledge of MS Windows and software uninstallation and installation processes.

Here’s what you need to do:

■Log on to the computer on which MS Visio 2013 is installed and is behaving the way
    mentioned in the title.
