I Use Proxy in My Network. How Can I Configure Orbit Downloader Accordingly?

If you are using the Orbit Downloader application on a computer that is connected to a local area network (LAN), and you have any proxy installed in the network, you might find it difficult to connect your instance of Orbit Downloader to the Internet with the default configurations.

In most LAN environments, the administrators generally install the proxy applications or the entire proxy server altogether in order to hide the internal IP addresses (local subnet) from the external network (the Internet) for security reasons. The proxy server is also used to cache the already visited webpages so that it becomes easier for the users to surf the Internet with least latency.

Another advantage of having a proxy in your internal network is that you can restrict access to the unwanted and unproductive websites, and can allow the users to access only the URLs that are useful for your business.

If your network has any proxy application or proxy server installed between the external and internal network, you can configure your instance of Orbit Downloader and can provide the address of the proxy server within its interface for smooth downloading experience.

After following the instructions given in this tutorial, you will be able to configure the Orbit Downloader to communicate with the proxy server within your local area network and enable its communication with the Internet through the proxy.

Here is what you need to do:

■Log on to the computer on which Orbit Downloader is installed.

■Initialize the Orbit Downloader program if it was not already started during the Windows boot process.

■Once initialized, right-click the Orbit Downloader icon in the system tray at the bottom right corner of the computer screen.

■From the displayed context menu, go to Preferences.

■On the opened Preferences box, from the left pane, click to select the Proxy
    category.

■From the right pane, uncheck the Internet Explorer default proxy checkbox present at the top of the interface.

■Under the Proxy Type section, click to select the appropriate radio button as per your
    proxy application/log server.

■Under the Details section, populate the available fields with the correct values.

■Once this is done, click OK to save the changes that you have made.

■Restart the Orbit Downloader application in order to allow the changes to take effect.

■If required, restart the computer before using the Orbit Downloader with the new settings.
