Google Error 492 like several other errors are related to Google Play Store. While it’s a go-to place for downloading apps, games or even music, Play Store does have it’s problems every now and then in form of these errors. This error usually happens when downloading or updating apps from Play Store.

There can be several causes for Error 492. The usual cache and data problems or the rarer SD card problem are all the potential guilty parties. Whatever the case, there is a solution for it, so here’s what you need to do to fix this error.

Clearing cache and data, and reinstalling the app - Fix number one


    ■ We’ll start with the more easier fix. Find and tap the Settings menu on your mobile phone.

    ■ Now, tap on Apps, Application or Application manager, the name might be different depending on your phone.

    ■ Find Google Play Store in the list and tap on it.

    ■ Now, tap on Clear data and Clear cache.

    ■ This might not be needed but you can also Clear cache and Clear data for Google Play Services. Now try and see if all of this fixed your issue.

    If the issue still persists, try reinstalling the app that’s been giving you the issue. Repeat the step 2 and find and tap on that application. Now just tap Uninstall and when that’s done, just install the app again and see if that helped.

Formatting/Erasing SD card - Fix number two

    ■ If you installed the application on your SD card there might be a problem with your SD card. So, open the Settings menu on your mobile phone.

    ■ Tap on Storage

    ■ Find and tap on Erase SD card (might also be called Format SD card).

    ■ Don’t forget to backup your files because this will delete everything on your SD card. When ready tap on Erase & Format.

    ■ Now download the application that’s been giving you problems and see if this fixed the issue.
