    That's a decent price. The 2 graphics cards just means it will swap between them depending on if you're using a graphics heavy application, to save power.

    Can you see a logo when the laptop starts up (or get into the BIOS)? Generally Viruses will run with the operating system. If the BIOS is also dark, it's likely the back-light has simply failed.

    Does it occur more often when the screen is tilted at certain angles? If so, it could be the internal monitor connection. If it has ever happened before Windows has loaded than Software can be excluded. You could also go into the BIOS and see if the issue is still prevalent.

    The Sims 4 has very low requirements. For around $1000 a Macbook Air will run it decently. Any modern i5/i7 Windows laptop would be suitable as well. Something like this would have good battery life...
