Gone belly up again, works fine on external monitor and you can just make out a very faint image on the laptop screen. Something is packing in but I don't know what? Any help?

Just found out that if I plug in a monitor to the laptop, it boots up ok and in fact the same picture appears on the laptop screen as well as the monitor at the same time. I swtched the laptop off and tried it again in isolation and it seems to work perfectly now. However I would assume that...

have an Acer Aspire 3810TZ laptop and am experiencing a problem when switching on. I can hear what I believe to be the hard drive whirring away and the opening sound of windows tones are heard but nothing appears on screen and all is black. it doesnt respond to any of the keys at all. It worked...

it's an old hp compaq nc2400 and the OS is windows 7 ultimate.

i do have the install disc but don't know how to boot from it though.

When I switch on my laptop I get a blank black screen with the words at the top .."The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum." Any ideas on what it means and how to correct it please?

For some unknown reason, there has suddenly appeared a one inch wide black band down the right hand side of my laptop screen and the taskbar at the bottom has almost disappeared off screen. is this something I have done or is it a sign that something more serious is happening please?
