HDMI Dongle Converts Any TV into Android Smart TV

Ah, if only my Samsung Galaxy S2 could have the ICS update which has been promised for MONTHS now but as usual they FAIL TO DELIVER. So, yeah, this is just another useless tchochke for me and many other people because either Google or Samsung can't be arsed to do their jobs.

Canada Launches MintChip, a Project to Digitize Currency

And I can foresee that each time you have to load money onto your Mintchip, the company behind it will charge you a "service" fee (i.e. steal some money from you). When you buy a prepaid Visa card, there is a $5.95 "service" fee attached, for example. The only difference is, once the Mintchip...

New iPad's 4G LTE Data Plans and Pricing Revealed

Well, that's a switch. Usually the Canadian plans are worse than the US plans by far. For example, with Virgin Mobility, you can get an unlimited talk and data plan in the US for significantly less than a *capped* talk and data plan in Canada (where unlimited data plans simply do not exist).

Jailbreaking Phones Could Become Illegal Again

Oh good. My iPad's Notes application spontaneously lost all my data. I had to restore the notes from a backup, but the two latest games that I bought were *not* backed up, and Apple says I have to buy them again! Ohhhh, THAT'S OKAY! BUT DON'T YOU DARE JAILBREAK YOUR OWN PHONE! Scumbag Apple.

iPads (and Other Tablets) are Killing Free Hotel Wi-Fi

Free wi-fi? Pfft. I stayed in Toronto last month at the Intercontinental in a $200 a night room and they were charging $10 for wi-fi. At that price I'll use my cell phone as a hotspot for my iPad. I don't stay at hotels much, but this "free" wi-fi doesn't seem to be nearly as prevalent as some...

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Listed for $289 at Costco

@SneakySnake: Or $25 at Best Buy. Funny enough, I've been a Rogers wireless customer for 9 years, and they apparently have the S2 as well, or at least that's what the rep told me. So I could switch to Bell or Virgin Mobile for the $25 phone, or I could stay with Rogers (contract is up) and get...

RIM's BlackBerry Service Out for Third Day Running

My contract is coming up for renewal next month. Possibly looking at a different carrier, definitely looking at a Nexus Prime or Galaxy 2/3 depending which one is available in N America. I have a BB Curve 8900, and it is absolutely useless with internet pages, even when hooked into wifi. My...

The BlackBerry PlayBook Gets a $200 Price Cut

Ugh. I *hate* mail-in rebates. They are just an excuse for companies to advertise pretend-savings, and if you do *anything* incorrectly such as seal the rebate request during the wrong phase of the moon, they will gleefully deny you your earned rebate. In fact, some companies will even deny...
