    Well if you are looking at getting a full 2.1 system as far as I know you are fairly limited to packaged deals, like those z623's you picked out, and getting bookshelf speakers and a sub isn't really an option. However a decent set of bookshelfs will probably give you the bass response you need...

    Amplifiers tend to be the most expensive part of a speaker system. Do you have a budget in mind? The lepai will power those speakers fairly well, but they won't be able to play to their max volume.

    I understand what you are talking about, it's just that unfortunately I have no options available (everything is grayed out) when I have nothing but the optical output or hdmi plugged in.     Have you tried selecting HDMI as your output in control panel? There should be an option to select HDMI as your audio output under your sound settings in control panel.

    I need a bit of help getting my PC to play sound through my receiver. I've tried using an optical cable through the SPDIF out on my motherboard (I don't have a sound card) to the optical input on my Denon 1912, but am getting no sound. In device manager (Windows 8.1) I get the error: "This...
