Sorry for the late reply, a webcam won't do because I need to zoom in about 10m (im filming a band on a stage). I don't currently have a capture cards, are there any cameras that will stream via usb/firewire. As for money as little as possible! £250 max!

I'm going to be filming some concerts where I will want to do some monitoring on a screen. From what I can tell the usb to composite doesn't let you monitor the camera, only view pictures you've taken. Does anyone know if the mini-hdmi output will let you monitor the camera? Thanks.

If the data you're tryng to save is really important to you; you could: 1. Try and mount it in another computer you own. 2. Get a local computer technician to help as they'll usually have an extenal hard drive mounter. I'm not sure if this is parctical but if yu're data is important enough...
