New headphones don't sound as "full" as old ones

I'm comparing an Audio-Technia ATH-M30X to a JBL J55a with an Asus Xonar DSX sound card. Front panel and back panel ports. I've triple-checked jack problems etc. So my new pair of ATH-M30X's just arrived today, and after plugging them in, audio sounds more "empty" compared to my J55a's. Almost...

    Do I really need AVG?

Recently AVG has been extremely annoying. Games that it didn't used to flag are being flagged; older games (Star Wars: Starfighter) are crashing because of AVG (Game starts, loads some, AVG brings it down claiming it's a virus, same old same old). Perhaps a recent battle with AVG (my father's...

But would I notice a difference between the DSX and DGX? My current headphones are advertised with 15Hz-24KHz...

    Xonar DSX vs Xonar DGX?

So, with my new headphones I've come across some audio issues (audio going "flat"). While this has faded away (or my brain has learned to ignore it), this hasn't been the first time I've had audio issues with my computer. ssddx suggested the Xonax DG/DGX, which would work lovely; it's cheap...

    New headphones randomly sound flat

Recently I got a JBL J55a on sale. I don't know if it's the placebo effect, or just getting used to different specs, but they randomly sound "flat" (only way to describe it, I think) at times. For example, I could listen to a song and for a moment it would sound "flat" but then a moment or two...
