Thanks a lot Brian, for the detailed answer. I never expected to get a response such as this one. Really informative. I've decided to go for the last year's model since it would serve most of my needs. And the newer features might not justify the price increase for me.

I'm planning to upgrade my television of 10 years (KLV-40W400A) to a 4k TV. I was looking at the Sony X9300E as the price was slashed. Considering the fact that Sony announced X900F series in CES 2018. Should I buy the 'E' series now or wait for the 'F' series? I don't find many differences...

The TV has an Optical SPDIF Digital Audio Output and the AV receiver has an input for the same (labled SA-CD/CD IN on the receiver). You could use an optical TOSLINK cable to hook them up together. This will help with 5.1 surround sound too...
