I just realised you didn't actually reply to me and it was someone else lol, i've been a awake for too long. :S

I dunno it just feel to me that a chromebook would do all he wanted to do for a good $500 or likely less. If he has the money to spend I guess it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world but he would want to get his money's worth out of it and I just think that he wont use it to it's full...

Sorry didn't see the laptop modal at the start :P Solid laptop asus is a great manufactorer.

Maybe talk to the manufactorers, and see if it's in warranty to get the gpu replaced.
