Help me with putting a netbook MB back!

OK, I have come into possession of a 2008 n270 netbook laptop which is the sort of Citroen 2CV machine that interests me. I have successful replaced the hard drive but it required taking the whole motherboard out. And now I can’t put it back. The video cables just will not plug into the MB...

Solved! Advice sought re: desoldering netbook hard drive. {solved - it just unscrewed!)

????!! It was just screwed in!!! I didn’t take the laptop fully apart before and assumed it was soldered in… the machine is weird, unknown make with no documentation of any kind. So… I had to remove the entire MB but… I now have a 500GB HD. I intended to replace with a 320 but picked up the...

Solved! Advice sought re: desoldering netbook hard drive. {solved - it just unscrewed!)

Thanks for the data. The machine is quite useless o me with only 80GB's. CPU speed is not such an issue for me but storage is. I will be receiving the '13th' month on Friday whereby I will be buying my wife a new laptop making this machine disposable. So if I destroy, such is life. I swear...

OK, I have come into possession of a 2008 atom n270 netbook in near mint condition. It’s exactly the kind of machine that interests me! (Don’t ask.) However, the hard drive is soldered onto the motherboard! An 80GB HD is useless to me. I need at least 320GB. I have such a HD and am looking...

Wooden laptop project - help with fitting motherboard & HD

OK, the casing for the wooden laptop is 90% complete. I have to add the motherboard and I am not sure how to go. This is all taking longer than I intended but work is harsh! Anyway, in the original MSI u135dx case the motherboard was fixed in place via screws under the keyboard and then by...

Can I get ZIF cable extensions for wooden laptop?

OK, the casing for the wooden laptop proceeds. Not much more to go but it gets more fiddly as it goes along. Because this is wood and not plastic the thickness of the wood must be considerably greater than the original casing. I am little worried that the barely able to reach tiny ZIF cables...

OK to replace CMOS battery safely?

    >"My old laptop has never required a new battery and it is a bit over 12 years old. " That's probably the money quote! It's just that, once this machine is put back together it ain't comingapart easilly. But the battery will be removable and that sounds like the key. Thanks to all!
