    Laptop restarted mid-restore.

Sounds like a damaged Boot Manager. Would recommend that you try a fresh installation of the OS again. Once you're up and running I'd recommend that you back up your system immediately. Either a disk imager (i.e. Macrium Reflect) or a snapshot tool (i.e. RollBack Rx)

    Looking For Deep Freeze Alternatives

Hi, I work for a school district, and in the labs/classes we have machines that are for the students. We've used Deep Freeze for the past few years, but lately we've had issues with it applying updates, and it's pricing is quite high. Any suggestions for similar programs?

Do you use : No Antivirus , FREE Antivirus , or PAID Antivirus and why?

When I worked at a computer shop (first IT job) the owner would always load a program called Comodo Time Machine on the machines and no Antivirus or much else. I asked him why, he said "Because Antivirus is as reliable as my junkie brother" While crude, he was right. I had never had any luck...

    Thoughts On Restore Software

If you don't mind spending a bit more, Rollback Rx on all machines will do the trick. If you want to keep costs down, go with just Drive Vaccine or Reboot Restore on the public access PC's. Typically speaking I try to keep as many software solutions under the same umbrella as humanly possible...

    RollBack Rx and macrium reflect

I know this was 'resolved' but I had a ticket submitted with HDS (developers of Rollback) and they told me that the reason disk imagers don't work is because they can't capture all components of Rollback. They capture the windows client but not the subconsole and that this can cause issues...

Recently I was upgraded to Windows 10 but it caused nothing but grief so last night I decided to system restore to the 22/05/1

Also, it's recommended that you run a disk imager before you play around with OS'. Even if you don't like Windows 10, you should use a disk imager like Acronis True Image, Macrium Reflect, or Drive Cloner Rx to back up the machine before you go back to the older OS.

Ransomware .locky virus, how to remove it ?

You'll hear a lot of people provide solutions but the only solution imo is to re-format the machine. If you don't have backups then it's the only way to be sure. If you had a weekly backup with a disk imager like Macrium Reflect or a daily snapshot with a snapshot tool like Comodo Time Machine...

Ransomware Virus, How to remove and get my files back without paying?

If you decide to pay the ransom (which I personally am against) then there's no way to know they didn't leave a stealth trojan for next time. Best thing you can do is re-format the machine. Especially if you don't use a backup solution. I use a program called Rollback Rx and it's saved my arce...

My elderly mom gets the most viruses and crapware anything to childproof a pc

Reboot Restore Rx. It's free and it'll literally wipe her computer clean on every reboot. Just have to train her to reboot it and you're golden. Deep Freeze is another good option, but it's not free and has all the same features as Reboot Restore Rx.

Using System Restore on New HDD

Depends on the disk imager you used. So while it should work, if the hard drive is a different make, size, and model there's a chance it might not work. I use Drive Cloner and I know there's no issues with that; Acronis True Image should work just fine as well.

[SOLVED]Software that can crash my computer?

I don't think it's software but you can always delete registries. That will do it.
