Recently I was upgraded to Windows 10 but it caused nothing but grief so last night I decided to system restore to the 22/05/1

That Restore Point would have been created by Windows 10. To revert to your earlier version of Windows, go into Control Panel and find the icon that does that for you.

It disappears after a month from Windows 10 installing so I can't look to see what the icon is named.

Also, it's recommended that you run a disk imager before you play around with OS'. Even if you don't like Windows 10, you should use a disk imager like Acronis True Image, Macrium Reflect, or Drive Cloner Rx to back up the machine before you go back to the older OS.
