This really sounds like an overheating issue.
Just start off with cleaning your laptop out. Just open it up (some screws on the bottom), and take a vacuum cleaner/compressed air and blow/suck it out. Watch out for those hidden spots around the fan, there might be dust hidden behind the plastic...

The first one for sure, it's got a better GPU, a better CPU (though it's an i3 ;)), and 8gigs of RAM is WAY more than you need, you'll never ever use 12gigs ;). Enjoy your laptop, it'll be a good one! Maybe you can upgrade to an SSD/M.2 later :).
