    A Scam, Right?

    Yes, a common Amazon scam. Absolutely avoid. This shows up here every few weeks. These sellers often ask to be paid in Amazon gift cards and then never deliver a product. Generally, any seller like this that requests you contact them prior to ordering is a scam.

    Looking at Crucial's website detailing upgrade options for that machine, it seems all the options are DDR3L http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Dell/vostro-3500

    Windows can't boot when a hard disk is installed

    Check your boot order when the disk is installed, and make sure that the drive your OS is on is listed at the top of the boot order.
