The battery you got online, is it original (OEM product)? What was the price of your new battery? Are you now stuck with 12% or 50% on new battery? Do you have a message "Pluged in, not charging) on your battery icon under taskbar?

A lot of things can be wrong on your laptop. Try reinstalling DirectX. Have you tried more games, are you sure you got the lastest drivers for your hardware? I would rather run fresh Windows installation and try again with all lastest drivers installed.

I would try reflashing BIOS. Which version do you have now?

If you can, go to the seller with somebody who is able to diagnose the problem before purchasing. Probbably, the seller was at the service to check what's wrong and he got the answer that it's not worth of it, BUT maybe he is not interested in taking that to the service... You can also run...
