    Question high temps please help

There is nothing wrong with using Throttlestop..it is not possible to change the BIOS. Some laptops dont have great cooling...so either use Throttlestop and undervolt, use a cooling pad, or lower the resolution of the games and hope that helps. R

    Question Buying a new laptop

Hi...here are my opinions. 500GB SSD and make sure it is NVMe but make sure the laptop also has a second bay for future expansion... either NVMe or SATA. 8GB MINIMUM...if you arent buying another laptop for a while, you need 16GB. 16 is really a standard config these days. Windows 10. Pro is...

    Solved! Dilema about several laptops

Thanks.... I downloaded all the latest stuff, but still the same situation. I was only able to get it under control through the use of Throttlestop and forcing speed shift. Dell was completely useless in terms of solving the problem. No good ideas...just reinstall windows... :-/ R

    Solved! Dilema about several laptops

@hang-the-9 - any experience with the Dell 7400 laptop (not the 2-in-1)? I am seeing issues with Intel's speed shift apparently not working - the CPUs run at full turbo speed unless I use ThrottleStop to "turn on" speed shift. I can open up a new thread so as not to hijak this one, but just...

    Solved! Dilema about several laptops

I own #5 on your list, and I really like it. I play most of the current games without a problem, though you will have to undervolt it and play with the settings for the kind of gaming that you do. To be honest, there are many good, new gaming laptops that are coming out. Check the youtub...

Solved! Asus G15 vs Lenovo Y540

Hi, Well, I don't agree with everything he did. I set my cores max a little differently. I also left speed shift at 128 (you can read about this in the article that comes with throttlestop). I did not change my clamps on the TPL screen, and I made sure to activate speedshift. I also don't...

Solved! Asus G15 vs Lenovo Y540

Maybe you should read the whole thread, where I actually include my settings???? There is a very good article inside the throttlestop download which includes all of the details about how to use it. R

    Question Red Screen of Death?

I have seen LCD screens that are failing do this. See if you can move or slightly bend the screen itself..... did you ever drop the unit? R

Question Laptop throttling to 800MHz on battery.

I would also recommend checking power profile settings. Maybe you have an overly aggressive profile from your vendor (like "Cool" setting), or perhaps the max processor state on battery is set too low somehow in Windows power profiles. R

Question Your pick for a laptop. (non-gaming)

Not easy, my friend. Metal = higher build quality, and discrete video card is also getting more costly. I am not sure what very light gaming is...can you be more specific and call out a game or two? I'll take a look when I get a chance, but you may want to get some ideas from Amazon and maybe...

Question Laptop throttling to 800MHz on battery.

Hi - not sure I understand. Are you stuck at 800 MHz? The CPU should throttle up when needed...are you saying it just stays there no matter what you are doing? R

Solved! Aspire A515-51 Laptop screen suddenly goes black but remains running

Not sure what video card you have. Nvidia and AMD each have different sites to get the drivers from. You can also try your laptop vendor website. Go through all of the driver updates and Windows updates (though I would wait on Windows 10 2004 optional update). R

Question URGENT: Laptop wont turn on after thermal paste change.

Sorry my friend, if you put everything back together the way it was supposed to be, you must have bent something or shorted something out? Were you grounded while you were working? The only way to troubleshoot is to have a professional assess the motherboard and look for shorts. You sure you...

Solved! Is fan good for cooling laptop?

Is 75c the temp during gaming or just sitting there? 75 during gaming is fine. Your processor (depending on what you have) can typically handle up to 100 and will automatically throttle itself or shut down to prevent damage. There are hundreds of cooling pads out there...just google it. R
