I figured out what was causing the fans to kick into overdrive. The click buttons below the touchpad got stuck inside the laptop. All I had to do was push them back into place. All is working well now. Thank you for the tips, guys.

I will definitely do a clean install then. I've already upgraded the laptop to Windows 10 and downloaded the Media Creation Tool to a USB drive. Will I need to purchase a new product key or will I be able to just install right away on the new drive?
