In case anyone ever finds this thread having a similar problem: In the end I got myself a new mainboard (obviously with CPU and GPU, as they are soldered on this model) and the laptop is now working just fine again!

Apart from the mentioned RISC V architecture, I haven't heard of any open source ones so far. I doubt bigger companies like ARM, AMD or Intel would even bother to reply if you told them you wanted to make a motherboard for their platform :P
