Hello, is it possible to recover hdd without formatting disk?

Hello, I have a Toshiba Netbook and I'm trying to reformat the C drive to erase all my info before giving the computer to my daughter. It does not have CD Rom and the netbook didn't come wth any CD Roms, so how to I reformat the C Drive?
