Ok here goes. I have been looking for days and cannot make up my mind, thought I would ask. I am coming from an XPS M1730. C2D 2.53 4GB ram, 8700gt SLI, 2 HDD is RAID 0. Most functions are great on the laptop, shes overheating alot and not quite the gaming machine she once was. Wondering what I can now get for $1,000. Spend closer to two on the XPS.

_What is your budget? Around $1,000 maybe a tad more
_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 13-15.6
_What screen resolution do you want? 720p and above
_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? Either.
_How much battery life do you need? Used to an hour, anything would be fine. Want to game.
_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low, Medium or High)? Yes I want to game, StarCraft II, Diablo III whenever that comes out, an FPS here and there. Medium quality is fine. Prefer frames over absolute perfection. Would prefer not to play on LOW.
_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, watching movies, Etc.) Will be used for work as well as play. All office tasks plus music and videos. No editing tho.
_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need? Larger is better but I am not too picky on capacity. Must be 7200RPM.
_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them. Have looked at Dell and ASUS. All different models, cannot make up my mind. Nothing seems just right.
_How long do you want to keep your laptop? 2-3 years. Gotten two out of current XPS, is now overheating.
_What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? Does not have to have BLURAY. DVD burner is fine.
_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. Have mostly used dell, gateway long time ago. Open to anything.
_What country do you live in? USA
_Please tell us any additional information if needed. This is for work and play. Lots of multitasking, multiple monitor. Do not want anything Core2 based, or Core i3. Tired of carrying around this huge XPS 17 and the huge power brick.

Thanks!
