[citation][nom]dickcheney[/nom]If you are carrying 1.7 M$ in electronics, you should be able to afford a 500$ pump shotgun and watch the damn thing.[/citation]

Next thing you know the thieves will bring Uzis.
If I was the driver I'd not get into a fight over a customer's -insured- load.
Unlike cats, humans have only one life 🙂

Federal laws prohibit firearms in commercial vehicles. (Ex-driver here).

Another over the top big brother law.

Yeah. They should allow them to be armed like in Mad Max! Real Kings of the Road!! Kill, Kill, KILL!!!

[citation][nom]synd[/nom]Yeah, good job truck driver. Carrying 1.7million truck load and being so careless.... good job finding an other job until the rest of your life... probably unemployed forever[/citation]

Don't be ignorant. He is a truck driver, not the security officer or a cop. His job is to drive, and that requires stopping from time to time, eating, peeing, sleeping, showering.

Having his truck stolen is not his fault. Would YOU risk a bullet wound to protect someone's cargo? Or would you rather go eat a rest a bit?

[citation][nom]Azimuth01[/nom]Almost all trucks have GPS installed. They are dirt cheap. Even the crappy logistics companies have GPS locators installed to make sure their drivers are not breaking DOT rules for travel time. These devices are usually tied into the ignition, so the trucks can't move if the drivers decide to tamper with them. I find it impossible to believe that a truck with 1.7 million in cargo does not have GPS.[/citation]

This. How the hell do you lose a huge truck in this day and age. I wouldn't be surprised if it's LoJacked in addition to what was mentioned.

[citation][nom]bin1127[/nom]I wonder if the trucker talked to someone about his cargo. 1.7mln in a single truck is a lot of money. If you do like Dole and paint your trucks with pictures of fruit then thieves would never bother to hijack your bananas.[/citation]
Yeah, but have you read about the problems with thefts of pecans?

How about painting some hazardous waste symbols on the truck and having the driver wear a radiation suit?

Or maybe transport the PlayBooks in garbage trucks? In addition to probably having low theft rates, it seems fitting to transport PlayBooks in them as well :)

thousands of peope are going to be pissed cause their playbooks won't be coming to them

You sir are the very definition of ignorant. Congratulations!

[citation][nom]pythy[/nom]Maybe the theives weren't interested in the cargo and they were actually just after the truck?[/citation]
I would have to agree. Only a fool would jack junk made by RIM. 😀

[citation][nom]LukeyB[/nom]OS 2.0 will bring a lot of value back to the PlayBook, in my honest opinion, its a sign that this universal platform should be market ready.[/citation]
LOL!! The Playbook would have had to have VALUE to begin with be for it could get "value back".

If RIM had finished baking the Playbook - they wouldn't have looked like the fools they are. When you are competing with the market leader such as the iPad, you can't SELL a competing product at the same price or higher, especially when it HAS less basic features.

I'll most likely get an iPad3... not sure yet, I'm still open to Android if they fix a lot of their problems or Win8 if blows my socks off.
