[citation][nom]TomsGuideRachel[/nom]I thought everyone at Tom's Hardware thinks that "gaming laptop" is an oxymoron. Laptops are for carrying around....the lighter the better![/citation]
lol, then you get a Netbook!

I think he spent to much for the laptop. I am speaking from a general stand point., no compared to this one or that one. I just wouldn't spend that much on a laptop. I think that Apple in general is over priced. I have that much money (a little more actually) invested into my desktop at home now that was worth it. My family mmbers two of them have Macs and I tell them like if you would have given me $3000 to build you a PC they would have top of the line everything Monitor Keyboard and Mouse. The parts I seen Apple is using inside their PCs are not usualy that new of stuff but, they sure charge you like it is.

On a side note I think Rachael should marry me LMAO. I love a woman with fIRE and brains :^P.

Um... 10 Seconds at the Pwn2own contest....
I will never by a Mac, no matter how shiney

The Megasafe Power connector would be the first reason I wouldn't buy this thing. I tend to move around a lot with my laptop as I am working and after a little wear and tear this type of power connector will likely fall off a lot. What happenes when the battery dies?

This was a daring article to write considering the blast THG took on the last mac comparo. I will say that this one makes more sense. I for one dislike the Apply style keyboard. the key spacing is too far apart and requires too much preasure. I type REALLY fast and the MAC keyboard either doesn't keep up or requires more preasure which slows me down. Since the keyboard is the main interface to the device there is no further discussion for me. I agree all the other options are great, even superior. But the keyboard is the deal breaker for me.

lol, funny thing is, I have an Aspire One that I use for school, and yet, doesn't weight more than 2lbs 😛

Yeah Apple really needs to work, but he is a professional hacker, he practiced for a year to use that exploit so if you have a year to attack any system on the internet you will find an exploit. It is interesting to listen to the reasons, I have actually removed Safari and wish to put Google Chrome on it.

Exactly, that is the point, I like the keyboard and features, if you don't then clearly you would never pay this much for a laptop. Like I said, I had sticker shock myself but trying it many times just showed it was right for me. I almost purchased the cheaper 15" to save money but the the long battery, larger screen and light weight all made that point almost minimal. I was worried that the extra pound or so would be tough but the benefits outweigh the weight. Same for many of you chatting in, the weight of a 11 lbs DTR might not bother you. So buy that unit, or buy the 16" HP that is 5.5 lbs and cost $700, buy the one that works for you. I am not saying that this Laptop is right for everyone but maybe you should not eliminate the MacBook Pro just because it is an Apple product.

[citation][nom]ohim[/nom]Now the trick question is why the hell do you invest 3k $ in a laptop ? You usualy do only your office work on it, you can buy yourself a 1k $ laptop that will do the office work just fine , and with the 2k ammoun invest into a gaming Destkop that will smash that Mac in 3D performance you get 2 in the price of one in the end[/citation]
I think the pricey lightweight laptops with the big screens (aka MacBook Pro and a few other PC models) are for people in the design/graphics industries. For people who are *just* doing basic office tasks--I think we can all agree that there is NO NEED to pay $3k, right?

Sorry, it was late and he was accusing me of not being technical. The discussion is about going from 4 GB of DDR3 to 8 GB of DDR3. That is not just 4 GB of RAM.

[citation][nom]duckmanx88[/nom]i think its pretty pathetic that the writer on TH is debating with readers and trying to insult them. "I have actually configured and used an OC192 to pass internet traffic, have you?" act like an adult please. and crucial isn't the only maker of RAM. 4G of memory, $80http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820231215[/citation]

good point indeed :)

Most of your arguements can be told for the Macbook Unibody 2.2GHz... It coasts 1400.00€.
Secondly, I just don't get why people buy a Mac and install Windows on it. In my opinion, when you buy a Mac you buy it first for Mac OSX and then for the machine.

wow if i had the need and the cash i would buy this, Mac sure has superb features.

Btw where can i get that peacock feather wallpaper???? 😀 i love it and its colours ...

That is just an upscaled version of the smaller one. I read on a forum that Apple bought the original true image for a lot of money--and no, it is not a default wallpaper on any of the MacBooks 🙁

i currently have the 15inch new macbook pro, and it is an amazing piece of machine. the quality of the product is superb, it feels rock solid and has never really given me any problems at all. The author said he hasn't gotten use to the track pad just yet.. but believe me, i can navigate this 15inch screen, and flip through multiple programs faster then the large 30inchers we have in school all due to this track pad. I've also ran photoshop, fireworks, Maya 9.0, VLC, and Firefox at the same time and not once did i notice anything slow down.. it was as snappy as ever.

the most amazing part is that my 15inch macbook pro can render out scenes in Maya 4x FASTER then the MacPros we have at FullSail that have 6gb of ram a QuadroFX card and dual Xeons. perfect for any intensive 3d artist on the move.

This is just a 13 page justification to make himself feel like it was worth all that money.
If you didn't need to go portable the actual hardware in a desktop PC could be had for well over $1200 LESS THAN YOU PAID!
I could take that 1200 and buy a 42" plasma and call it a monitor!

Idiots if you want cheap then buy a cheap and fragile!!
if you want QUALITY STUFF THEN EXPECT TO BURN Cash
as simple as that!!
(decent life is expensive!!)"you cant compare a honda to ferari"

I couldn't talk myself into buying one, simply for how pug ugly the keyboard / bottom half of it is. It's just proportionally and visually wrong, I don't think I could ever get over it.

They keyboard actually is just missing the normal slant on teh sides so they just look bigger. I thought I could never use it also but the more I tried it the more I liked it. Of course I have fair sized hands so that means my fingers actually land right on the keys. I think it is just a preference.
