Saying that you can or can't stay anon on the net is pure mind games, it is like saying you can stay anon anywhere RL or not. In both cases you can stay anon if you are extreamly paranoid and cautios of your actions, but chances of living a decent life and staying sane is slim.
Of course everything can be tracked on the internet, only problem is when you get to the end of the line and you eventually get the last known packet where IP and last MAC address dont match, the IP is owned by a Romanian bank and the MAC adress is of a scrapped PDP10 lastly known to be owned by DEC (that is now long since gone). You have to know so much more than IT and crap to stay hidden and you need to know even more to catch the very good ones.
Flame me all you want I have done both...
