I am planning to buy a new laptop.
One is of hp envy lineup and other one is of dell's inspiron 2 in 1 lineup.

The envy one has 8 gb of ram with 2gb Nvidia MX150 graphics.

While the inspiron 2 in 1 has 16gb of ram but comes with an integrated graphics.

I'm currently a pursuing my career as a software engineer and is looking for a good, work and office laptop.

Gaming is not my priority and inspiron one cost 200 us dollars more

I can afford both the laptops. Which one should i preffer?

8gb is usually fine. Most can be upgraded if you need more later.
Integrated graphics is fine if you do not play fast action games.
The processor on modern laptops are plenty, there is little need for the high end options.

What I think IS essential on a laptop is a ssd for windows. I will never buy one without it.
It just makes everything you do quicker.

Take the envy, both these laptops are not suitable for (real)gaming so the cheapest one is always the option....
But you can also take the inspiron, if you plan to do some heavy processing ( not graphical) tasks...
If your requirement is less then go for the envy
