Hi all, not sure what setup I want , is there much difference between a 5.1 system and a 2.1 ? use my pc for games and movies , budget around 150 pound mark . possibly bluetooth ?

Of course there's a massive difference between only having two speakers in front of your face and an additional two behind you. Being able to hear things all around you greatly increases immersion, but whether or not that's worth the extra effort (wiring/positioning/cost/etc) is entirely up to you. One thing to note is that, when staying within the same price range, a 2.1 system of similar cost to a 5.1 system is very likely to sound significantly better, especially for music. However, since you'll be doing plenty of gaming and movie watching, the increased immersion of a 5.1 system may still be a better choice.

Did you get a 5.1 system? It seems that there is a big hole in the market for a decent 5.1 speaker system for PC. You can pay up to around £70 for something that I can only imagine is not very good and then there is a big jump to £300 and not much in between.

I'm on the hunt to replace my VideoLogic Sirocco Crossfire which was £200 so far back it should be in a museum. Although the sound is good it's not 5.1 and the speaker cones must be pretty shot by now.

To be honest with you I'm still looking ... I looked at Creative A550,T6300 , Logitech Z-506 and the Logitech Z-906 .

There are some 2.1 systems I've looked at aswell Bose companion 5 speakers , bowers and Wilkins MM-1

I looked at having Bluetooth rear speakers to save cables running across my room but that cant happen because they would have to battery powered...

but really I'm stuck between Z-506 and the Z-906 .

Like you I would like to hear them working to see whats what.
