Are you looking for a 2-in-1 laptop with a digital pen so than he can draw on the screen or any 2-in-1 laptop so that you can attach a wacom drawing tablet? The above mentioned Lenovo laptops do not have a digital pen so if your son wants to draw with them then you need to purchase a wacom tablet as well.

The Microsoft Surface 3 is the least expensive 2-in-1 that is capable of using a digital pen (sold separately). It is $428 for the Surface 3 and $55 for the digital pen (N-Trig technology)

Just be aware that the Surface 3 is not the same as the Surface Pro 3. The Surface 3 uses an Intel Atom CPU which is less powerful than their Core i3/i5/i7 CPUs.

As an alternative, you can purchase the Acer Aspire Switch Alpha 12 which competes against the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 for $488 without the dgital pen. It has a Core i3-6100u CPU which is a lot more powerful than the Atom CPU used by the Surface 3. The pen sells for $46, however you do not need to specifically purchase Acer's pen for this 2-in-1. Acer uses Synaptic active digitizer tech so any digital pen that uses Synaptic tech should be compatible with the Switch Alpha 12.

On thing to note is that pressure sensitivity on the Switch Alpha 12 is not as high as on the Surface Pro 4 / Pro 3 and probably the Surface 3. That means while it is adequate for the average person to draw with, a professional artist definitely wants something with higher pressure sensitivity to draw finer lines.

It is also liquid cooled, so no fan noise.

Here's a review for the Switch Alpha 12.
