When I "splurge" on something, I want it to be really good at the thing it is supposed to do. I worry that a folding TV, or a music playing toilet is not going to really shine in its core functionality and to me it makes more sense to get a solid laser projector and a decent screen (doable for $3k or so), or a well designed toilet (one that flushes well with not too much water) and good bidet seat (less than $1k). If I am not running a coffee shop, a single cup espresso with steamer and a bean grinder (again, less than $1k) are more than sufficient. In the same way, the base level Apple watch with LTE and a good aftermarket band and case will look and perform better than the luxury level watch bought straight up. I wonder if something like a Laika camera is a good recommendation for someone who isn't already planning to own one, also.
