I see a lot of people asking about budget laptops, and I thought I would put my opinion out there to help. These three are all under $500 and are CAPABLE of playing games. I own all three and have vigorously tested them. I did a lot of research on price to performance and picked these up for the wife and kids.
$279 will buy you this, you will spend half a day removing bloatware and setting it up. Plays every game in my steam library at mostly low to medium settings. (Skyrim high 30's fps@720, Battlefield 4 story mode low settings low 30's fps, Crysis 3 low settings low 30's fps) Also has built in dvd player.
