I see a lot of people asking about budget laptops, and I thought I would put my opinion out there to help. These three are all under $500 and are CAPABLE of playing games. I own all three and have vigorously tested them. I did a lot of research on price to performance and picked these up for the wife and kids.

$279 will buy you this, you will spend half a day removing bloatware and setting it up. Plays every game in my steam library at mostly low to medium settings. (Skyrim high 30's fps@720, Battlefield 4 story mode low settings low 30's fps, Crysis 3 low settings low 30's fps) Also has built in dvd player. Suggest upgrading memory to 8gigs with 1866, but will get back with results before fully recommending. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834319445&cm_re=g50-_-34-319-445-_-Product

$349 will buy you this, plays same games as the above laptop at low settings with higher fps, or mediumish settings at 720) Will upgrade memory then update on results. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=34-314-822

$450-$550 depending on neweggs mood will buy you this, plays most games at medium to high settings at 30-60 fps at 720. Has snappy hybrid 1tb/8gb drive. Will update info after connecting to 1080p monitor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834315016

I know this forum section seems to be mostly for questions, but not sure where else to put it. I hope this helps people out as I see a lot of questions about this lately. If you have any other questions about pros and cons of these systems, I will help as best I can.

Haha, not as nice as yours I bet! Thanks though, figured people looking for some lite portable gaming on a budget might need some help. I still haven't brought myself to a high end gaming laptop yet, as every time I do, I just hit up pcpartpicker first and that kills my want for getting too spendy on a mobile. I am going to try and do some videos on these and post them to youtube. I can't say any of these will be playing next years games, but I still haven't beaten Skyrim, Fallout 3/NV, or RPG maker...
