32bit or 64 bit

i have just purchased hp envy and before openning i read in tiny print that i needed to purchase 64bit os and software is this necessary on windows 8 and if so how do i do this

Win8, who knows. Win7, use what you want, but these days 64 is preferred unless you have specific compatibility or 16 bit needs and refuse to dual boot

Unless you have a specific reason to use 32bit, you will want to use a 64bit OS.
Heres Windows 8 64bit. Its an OEM copy, so the product key is only valid after its first use if its used again on the same laptop.
