Needs a nice screen
will be a desktop replacement and be used for web browsing and daily use.

At this point I'm tempted to just order something with 4-5 stars on newegg

You can use that 'Sort by Rating' option on NewEgg to rank the laptops based on customer feedback.
Just keep in mind that a lot of those ratings might not give you a clear idea just how good the laptop actually performs.
It's like anything else - you get what you pay for.
