It's usually cheaper to just buy a new tv. The replacement screens cost almost as much as an entire TV if you can even find them in stock, and when you factor in the high costs of shipping, they cost even more.
New TVs are better and less expensive.
its just sad to throw away a big TV with just a little crack... what a waste! I wish there were somewhere that kept them as spare parts I would even give it to them to be recycled.
New LCD's don't beat plasmas. But yeah, buy a new Samsung, Sony, Vizio, they mostly use VA panels but not quite plasma contrast, though they're superior to IPS. They stopped producing plasma years ago unfortunately.

It is sad, but there is very little to a TV other than the screen and a plastic case.

There are tradeoffs. On the whole, I think the new LCDs are better for the price-that's why they stopped making plasmas. If you must have the blackest of blacks, check out the new OLED TVs.
