Honestly, did anyone over at MPAA or RIAA think that this wouldn't lead to escalation?
Arrogance.
They thought they could launch a unilateral strike and simply declare victory.
What they actually did was fire a peashooter at a freight train, which promptly rolled all over them leaving a red smear on the tracks.
Big mistake.

I think this is sad. 4chan is just a stupid website. It's users are to blame not the website. It would be like if someone on this forum were to instigate a raid and Toms Hardware was blamed for starting the attack.

This is a misleading article.

I noticed most of the good comments have a large amount of thumbs down. Someday all the people who are loyal to the idiotic 4chan subculture and the anon mask are going to look back an realize that you killed it for us all. We've seen it in history all the time. Hitting back won't do people any good.

You mean like Washington would have wanted?

At worst we will have to go ANON with a rifle and a face mask.

Now, if the attacks can only put RIAA and MPAA out of business.

PS: There is reasonable use and theres piracy... and these groups are almost as evil as the pirates they go after.

You silly people thinking this is some victory for pirates. All this does is bring more attention to the pirate sites. EXPECT more government involvement because of these childish attacks.

Do you really want the governments of the world getting involved in your personal life?

all this did was waste people's time. the riaa and mpaa aren't going to stop going after pirates just because a website was down for a few hours. here's a better idea: put your energy into a political movement to change legislation.

How many people actually asked their politicians for DRM, copyright infringement lawsuits, DCMA and other legislation? Oh, wait, it was the RIAA and MPAA that asked for that. Hmmmm.... apparently two voices can drown out millions of others.

Let's not forget that many of our "representatives" are board members (in title only, but the paycheck is real) of these organizations.

Good luck with trying to change the political momentum that these large lobbyists have. Let me know how it goes.

which is why it's even more important for people to put their energy in a political movement instead of wasting their time with DDoS attacks and criticizing others for suggesting real solutions.

And how would you go about trying to affect change.

It's like telling politicians that they should pass a bill for term limits.
