I'm building a small home theater in a spare room. I couldn't afford a 4k projector so I just went with a 1080p projector which looks fine. I want to add a Blu ray player. Is there any reason to get a 4k Blu ray player if my projector can't handle 4k? When 4k projectors come down in price, I might upgrade. Then again, I'm sure 4k Blu ray players will come down as well. Any advice would be appreciated.

While you won't really benefit by the extra pixels but non 4K players are going to be so cheap that the overall video quality may not be very good. On a projector that would be noticeable.
Since the difference in price is between $30-50 I would go for it.
If you could get an older more expensive FHD BD player that's another story.
