hi all

im having some issues with playing 4k content and could really do with a clear answer.

My laptop is a dell 7559 with i7 6700hq 8gb ram and gtx 960m. now ive read and been told that none of these components will play hevc files and to some extent that is true as they stutter heavily in the programs that will play them.

ive also read the 530 in the cpu is enough to play back?

the 4k fil is around 50gb and 10bit hevc.

can anyone help as im getting lost in all the info i read.

thanks for reading let me know if you need more info.

thanks for the link, that is one of the things ive already read and ive downloaded the checker.

am i right in thinking the problem is i can read 8 bit files and not 10bit?

and if that is the case are there any codecs to solve this or will it never play that kind of content?

its defiantly picking up the intel cpu as you can select it at the bottom. in that test article it was a 1080p file but im sure that has no bearing on codecs.

i was linked to a website with download files for hevc files at various file sizes etc and not many of those play either.
it would stutter on a 60mbps bitrate file but be ok with smaller.

does this mean i need to lower the bit rate on the files somehow?
