5.1 surround effect from laptop

Guys,
i bought a creative 5.1 speakers which came along with sound card for my desktop.The effect was good and i was able to get surround effect.Now i have banned my desktop and i only have a samsung laptop.I tried connecting the speakers yet i get only sound in all speakers no surround.Is there a way to attach the sound card came along with that to my laptop to get the surround effect i got from my desktop?

Your audio control panel might might have the ability to make your mic into a surround output, but you will still be missing the center channel.

Outside of this there is no way to do this from your laptop. The only way to get true surround from a laptop is using hdmi to a home theater receiver.

There are some USB sound cards out there that can do this for you too. They range in price from 20-130. Search external sound car or external soundblaster on newegg and you will get a bunch of results.

If the sound card that comes with you is a PCI card, you will need to buy one, but if it's usb, yeah, it will work just like on your desktop, but if it isn't usb there are two sound cards that may worth for you:
