Guys i have build a 5.1 channel amplifier using 2 stereo TDA2030 ICS AND 2 MONO TDA2030IC using a 12-0-12 3AMP transformer......thing is that does sub-woofer require a pre-amp circuit....i have connected this amp to creative x-fi sound blaster usb sound card.....the subwoofer is ok..but require the volume to be 50%..to get response properly.....
I am using Philips 166w rms subwoofer...i am satisfied with the amp....only thing is that do i need to add a pre amp circuit to sub input r not.......
the pre-circuit is available in market....i had bought it...but the bass is not natural....without pre-amp the bass is natural and smooth...

If you're using a soundblaster card, go into the audio control panel and adjust the output level of the sub channel. You should be able to increase it independently of the other channels. You may also need to enable the 15db bass boost if you have that option. Finally, if you're still having to turn up the volume too high, adjust the gain on your subwoofer as well. Between that, and adjusting the output from the sub channel, you should get enough input voltage to push it properly. This is assuming you have your soundblaster control panel properly configured for 5.1 surround sound.
