i've read most comments and imo bb users (i got one) are just happy....i like the nice screens and all of the iphone and androids but i'll never give up my bb (maybe and thats a big one if the iphone wasnt apple)....i would say bb users are most loyal...only android can contest that but apple is full of fanbois who will by the next iphone regardless of wether it can actually make a call

Only reason I have a "smart" phone is because works pays for it, otherwise I wouldn't buy any of them. The only reason I need a phone is just to make a call.

Should I lie and say; "I have a DROID X or an EVO 4G and Android is the ultimate epic win OMG!!!!1111!!" to avoid my comment getting thumbed down?

I have an iPhone 3GS and it works just fine for what I want/need. I used to have an ipod and a nextel/sprint hybrid crap phone. With the iphone I can combine a polished system for playing my music while also being able to access the internet and make phone calls/text. Visual voice mail works great as well. I can easily access all of my mail accounts, check the weather, etc. I live in south jersey, so although AT&Ts network is crappy in most places, the area where I spend 99% of my time has solid 3G coverage. In addition; Rowan University, where I attend school, has very poor Verizon coverage compared to AT&T, so thats a benefit for me. I don't buy apps from the app store, just download free ones, and I don't buy music from itunes. I'm far from an Apple fan boy, you would have to pay me to suffer through ownership of a mac, however I'm open to using whatever product does what I need it to do, efficiently and reliably, and the iphone fits the bill.

Now that I have Android Froyo I wouldnt wipe my @ss with iOS.

Microsoft had my interest at first with WP7 but slowly killed off any interest with each update of lacking features, usability issues, etc...

Have iPhone 3G, hate it, but bought too much crap at the App Store. will probably still pick up a W7 or android phone, but prefer BB as a brand...

I have an iphone right now. I needed an ActiveSync device so I could connect with the Exchange server at work. I wanted a device that could replace my Garmin, ipod, foreign cell phone and US cell phone. The locked iphone failed on the foreign cell phone, but that was OK because the contract for my foreign cell is just too expensive to cancel - better to ride it out and put the service on vacation whenever I am in the US.

When my contracts finally end next year an unlocked iphone with 64GB of space should be able to fulfill my needs. That would leave me enough space for offline maps, enough music for 3-5 week trips and the ability to use whatever sim card I like. If RIM, Windows Mobile 7 or an Android device will deliver these capabilities I will happily consider them as I have no special loyalty to Apple. I simply want to reach the point where I only need to carry one phone form factor device in whatever country I visit.

Symbian S60 disgusts me, I can barely run the music player along with the picture viewer, it looks extremely outdated with the blocky UI and the selection of applications is very poor compared to android or iOS. I know some be due to the low hardware specifications of the Nokia N97 but the Symbian S60 OS had run its course a while back.

Their "Meego" OS looks promising though. For me, I crave for android ATM (lol) so theres my choice.

Actually, I am impressed by the quality of the data presented. I have no clue how accurate those numbers are, but the percentage of users of iPhone and Android who wanted to switch to Blackberry were necessary to make the numbers meaningful. Otherwise, the explanation could have simply been that half of the people who use anything would like to try something else.

BlackBerry user here: come October I'm done. Android here I come. There is just no real development for BB. If you want an app for BB you have to dig around to find it, and then pay for it (not that I mind paying for quality apps.) With Android there are an overabundance of apps, and great many of them free.

[citation][nom]cjl[/nom]I have a blackberry, and I like it. My next phone will probably be either Android or Windows Phone 7, but Blackberries are still nice phones. They aren't as good as iPhones or Android if all you care about is twittering or facebook, but if you just want a nice smartphone with a great calendar, a good email, and internet, the Blackberries are still a good option.[/citation]
I have a Blackberry 9700

I find its only good for a phone...
The calendar, email and internet suck! So much so that i rarely even bother to browse on it anymore. I can't wait to dump the Blackberry. Prior to the Blackberry i had a 3gs and a 3g befor that... I will likely go with Android next.

just got my first blackberry today, still getting the hang of it. Looks fine but its kind of sluggins, my iphone friends seem to have more freedon on theirs and youtube works liek a charm on them with that big screen. Oh well...
