I have a 5000 series and a small problem. Last night it died, . . .
well it did not die, it just no longer speaks to the TV. I am waiting for a
scheduled record to see if it goes into record mode.

As of now it will turn on and off as indicated by the blue light. I get
no signal out of any of the outputs to the TV (75? or composite)

Any ideas of where I might go from here? Any recommendations for repair?

I understand there are some inexpensive units on the market, If I were
to get one and replace the harddrive with the one I have, would like take
care of the machine ID etc, so my subscription would continue?

Thanks

My 5040 died a few weeks ago and I got another one off Replay's web site.
Once you explain to the help desk that your old unit died, they'll transfer
your subscription to the new unit on the spot and you'll be up and running
that same evening.

Check out this link http://www.replayfaqs.com/ for free shipping and then
click to

a good deal on a 5040 refurb. . .

Replay itself will ship you a new one (in the US) for $79.00 delivered

I suspect they can work out a way to continue your subscription if
properly motivated (Might take a polite lawyer letter)

IN any case I'd start with a phone call... The shown on
www.replaytv.com's sales page

Depending on when you call, you get Texas or India.
