I am looking for a laptop between $600-$750, 15-17 inches with 1600x900 or 1920x1080 resolution (touch not all that important), that will mostly be used for entertainment purposes (movies/web video streams) and light gaming (LoL, HotS, SC2 on low/medium) and a bit of programming. I live in the US. I'm mostly looking for something that will last a few years and is a good value.
MSI GP Series GP60 Leopard-472 - $760
15.6'' 1920x1080
Intel Core i7 4710HQ (2.50GHz)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB
8 GB Ram
Lenovo U530 - $750
15.6'' 1920x1080
Intel Core i7-4510U (2.00GHz 1600 MHz 4MB)
NVIDIA Geforce GT 730M N14M-GS DDR3 2GB
8 GB Ram
Dell Inspiron 17R - $599
17.0'' 1600x900
Intel Core i7-4500U (4M Cache, up to 3.0 GHz....I think 1.8 GHz base)
Intel HD Graphics 4400
8 GB Ram
I could probably get away my gaming needs on the cheaper dell, but do you guys think the $150 price difference would be worth the better processor, resolution and dedicated graphics?
Are there any alternatives out there that you would suggest as a better deal or does the MSI seem like the way to go?
Thanks for your suggestions!
