Another option is the Toshiba satellites. I'm not really in love with Toshiba's laptops and don't know if they're the best bet. They aren't bad but it may be better to spend money somewhere else.
Finally Lenovo's U410's are another good, and stylish model to look at. They're right in your price range...
Hey, sorry you haven't gotten any help yet. My friend produces and I play around a bit. You won't need an overly powerful system to run most music production programs. What program are you using. Something nice that comes to mind is the Dell Inspiron 14z. It's 600 dollars and should be fine. It's also relatively stylish and lightweight.
Thanks for your reply, music production will be the main and likely the only purpose of it. I'm planning on using Pro Tools 9 and NI Komplete ultimate and I would like to get some plugins and libraries for orchestral type plugins. Thanks again for replying I was starting to think I wasn't going to get any help.
I just want something that I can have enough RAM and space to do music production and recording and use with a midi keyboard controller and do stuff with pro tools 9. I'm going to buy an external Sound Card A.K.A audio interface that I will hook up to my laptop or pc or whatever afterwards.
