700-1000 laptop suggestions

Hey picking out a laptop for my sister, looking to see what suggestions you guys have, having a hard time finding a laptop with backlit keyboard that has an optical drive still. HP envy 15t was going to be a for sure, but was told needed optical drive (don't know why).

Any help you guys have for suggestions would be awesome.

Anywhere up to 1000

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

Prefer a 15" size

3. What screen resolution do you want?

1080 if possible

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

Both could be considered

5. How much battery life do you need?

3-4 hours ? Battery life isn't a huge consideration

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?

Not for gaming

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

Photo/video editing definitely

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?

1tb

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.



10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?

A few years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

At least dvd, bluray would be bonus

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

Not interested in Macbooks, just not an apple guy

Looking for a backlit keyboard ****

Go for either the n series from asus. They are made for multimedia usage which means you should get a dvd drive in most of their models. However only some have a backlit keyboard so look out for it when buying.
