My laptop's architecture can support a maximum of 8Gb of RAM but it is fitted with a 32bit processor...why?

Solution

It means you have a 32bit OS on a 64bit CPU.
You will only have ~3.5GB accessible.
Unless you do a full wipe and reinstall with a 64bit OS. Then you could use the full 8GB.
The System type says: 32-bit Operating System. I read that this means that you have a 32-bit OS installed and a 32-bit processor since there's no mentioning of a 64-bit CPU. (Of course this assumption may be wrong since the internet is full of "experts")
