8mp mobile camera: use the full 8mp or just 5mp? which takes better?

Hi all,

Been wondering, does it matter to use the full resolution of your phone's camera?

I have an 8mp phone camera. Do I get a better image quality if I set it in the settings to use only 5mp resolution? I kind of remember that I read somewhere that for example, your phone has 8mp, using the fuul 8mp resolution will cause more noise, less detail, etc.? I don't really need a large image, 2592x1552(5m) resolution would suffice. I'm looking for better image quality.

I don't know about the noise stuff. But generally the more mega pixel, the better.

Why don't you try taking 2 pictures of the same spot with the two different resolution and compare them?
