This kid doesnt know what he/she is talking about. And not to mention, if he/she is on the computer 4-10 hours a day, wtf is he/she doing???

Also..."Instead, gamers should go outside and mingle with friends. ".... take your own advice kid, 4-10 hours a day on a cpu leaves about zero hours of human interaction

it has already been done, on a service like version fios tv, all on demand content as well as ppv is streamed over the internet, the company temporally increases your speed cap while the content is streamed to the STB, streaming a 1080i it uses around 10-12mbit/s (when benchmarking using tomato firmware )
When I had verizon DSL (not fios) and there were network congestion problems, when I was being switched over to a different router on the ISP end, the speed cap had not taken effect and for about 10 minutes or so, I was getting over 20Mbit/s in both upload and download and I was at the edge of their coverage.

as for basic DSL that depends on what speed he finds as basic and also It is possible to send a 1080P signal over a 128kbit connection, it will have the resolution but the quality will be crap.

what needs to be done is the creation of a new compression method that is not as lossy and is also not CPU intensive or at least supports some GPU acceleration

anyway it is good that he is working towards furthering his education and getting those credentials.

Forgot to mention, Compared to tv, games can offer more entertainment. if games were really a waste of time, it wouldn't be a industry that makes hundreds of billions of dollars a year.

TV requires very little thinking, all of the content is being sent to you easily but since it is the same each time theres no true replay value, with games, it requires thinking in order to enjoy, games can be played multiple times and it can also be played with friends.

4-10 hours a day seems pretty average for computer usage.

[citation][nom]Ehsan W[/nom]i have a feeling he will get depressed and...kill himself...not that I hope he does ofcourse....[/citation]

I feel that he will probably have a drop-off point when he sees how many other certifications and requirements it takes to get a job in this field and just be a normal kid and probably do really well in school and probably follow a different path.

to be a sys admin in a large company thats actually responsible for keeping the network and the servers running, there so many requirements that it it can be scary especially if they they worked really hard to get that certification from microsoft and saw how hard it was on them, it will put them off from going further unless they are truly interested in it. For me, I have set up networks for local businesses and managed servers and I currently do this for free for a friends company, but I would not want it to be my full time job. Currently working to become a teacher.

being a full time sys admin, I know a few, it is a very stressful job as they are on call 24/7, many of them tell me of the troubles. to me it is not worth it as working for a large company is too much work compared to hoe much you get paid.

Many of them make about $65000-70000 a year but they work much more hours and have to work harder most other people

it is just like people who got into graphic design. One of my friends does it and generally will ask me to help him with some work because of the work load.

While there are a few notable exceptions, most of these child geniuses never go on to be household names or do anything more exceptional than those that reach a high level of intelligence later in life. Most super intelligent people don't graduate college at 12, but are geniuses nonetheless. Still, he's right. Video games are a waste of time. An awesome, glorious waste of time.

Huh. 9 year old tech prodigy, nowhere near mature or experienced enough yet in life to realize his own insecurities compromise his integrity. Maybe his first love should be football if he's going to say gaming is a waste of time.

Totally impressive for a 9 year old to have a "resume" like this...

Why would i take a 9yr olds advice even if his IQ is higher then mine. Very smart person, "Life" educated i think not.

Turn 35, have a child, own a house and pay bills... then i may listen to your opinions.

But again, this is a totally impressive KID.

What a dearest comrade... I agree with the "virgin for life" post. Kid probably has no friends. He has, what, 9 years of life to base that on? Pisses me off.

I mean to quote this in my last post^^^.

so much for the envy, big boys
go on continue gaming
as Marko knows his ways
(it's funny, some even envy his good looks)

I may be late with my comment but here it goes. First us gamers do go out and "mingle" with our friends. Second video gaming (or pc gaming since that is the title) is not a waste of time, video gaming can offer a lot new experiences people have never had before (like for example I could start up a game of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and experience a post nuclear apocalypse in a realistic setting or start up neverwinter nights and play a game of dungeons and dragons with my friends and experience am adventure made for me and my friends) and they can teach us a whole lot as well for example if it weren't for a strategy game by the name of hearts of iron 3 I wouldn't have known the map of the world during world war 2 as well as I did and probably would have failed my history exam because of that lack of knowledge. Third the amount of time you spend on the computer is no different than that of an average gamer about the age 16 I for example spend most of my time studying programming, japanese, french, german, art (designing, drawing, painting) and a lot of business related stuff now about 2 of those activities do I do on the computer which add up to about an hour each making it 2 and add in my gaming time which is about 1-3h with a 15 minute break every hour and I spend a total of 5 hours on my computer so you technically spend more time on the computer than an average gamer so don't say that gamer's not only don't have much of a social life or that games are unimportant when you your self spend more time on the computer than an average gamer. And finaly don't think you are special because you are a prodigy there are many prodigy in the world and you are just one of them and ordinary people can do what you did so its nothing unique so don't make a comment about a topic you haven't researched before or don't have any personal conection to you will set your self up to mocked on the internet or the real world.
